UKRAINE, ISRAEL, AND TAIWAN

Abstract : these are three examples of the US consistent strategy of dividing and conquering which is at the core of many wars in the world.  The ongoing war in Ukraine and the one in the Middle East as well as the crisis of Taiwan have at least one thing in common : the United States of America uses division as a geopolitical instrument to cause wars between nations of the same ethnic background to contain its adversaries.

Arabs and Israelis : same semitic people

Arabs and Israelis are the same semitic people. According to Bible accounts, Jews and Arabs have the same ancestors. This is also confirmed by scientific studies which claim that 70% Arab and Jewish men share the same DNA traits. In present day Palestine, both Arabs and Israelis used to live together until under British colonial rule, Jewish people started claiming the creation of their own state. After the Holocaust of the Second World War, Western allies lobbied for the creation of the Jewish state. In 1947, the UK turned the Palestine problem over to the UN. Read more. After looking at alternatives, the UN proposed terminating the Mandate and partitioning Palestine into two independent States, one Palestinian Arab and the other Jewish, with Jerusalem internationalised (Resolution 181 (II) of 1947). David Ben-Gurion declared the creation of the Israeli state in 1948.

Ukrainians and Russians : same Slavic people from Russ of Kiev

Similarly Ukrainians and Russians are all Slavic people. Kievan Rus also known as Kyivan Rus was a state and later an amalgam of principalities in Eastern and Northern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century. Encompassing a variety of polities and peoples, including East Slavic, Norse, and Finnic, it was ruled by the Rurik dynasty, founded by the Varangian prince Rurik. The modern nations of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine all claim Kievan Rus’ as their cultural ancestor, with Belarus and Russia deriving their names from it. Present Kyiv was the capital of that state. In 988, Volodymyr I Sviatoslavych became a Christian by baptising to marry the sister of the Emperor of Orthodox Byzantine. Russia later was separated from the Russ of Kiev after the Mongol invasion.

In modern history, Ukraine and Russia both belonged to the Soviet Union until collapse in 1990. Before the breakout of the Ukrainian civil war between the Kiev government and the Russian speaking population of the East, these russophone Ukrainians accounted for more than half of the nation’s population. According to official data from the 2001 Ukrainian census, the Russian language was native for 29.6% of Ukraine’s population (about 14.3 million people). Ethnic Russians formed 56% of the total Russian-native-language population, while the remainder were people of other ethnic backgrounds.

Taiwanese and Chinese : same Han people

Taiwanese and Chinese all share the same ethnic background. According to government figures, over 95% of Taiwan’s population of 23.4 million consists of Han Chinese, while 2.3% are Austronesian Taiwanese indigenous peoples. China controlled Taiwan until the late 17th century and ruled it for some two centuries. Japan acquired Taiwan in 1895 following the first Sino-Japanese War, and it became a colony. Taiwan was returned to Nationalist Chinese control in 1945 following Japan’s defeat in World War II. In 1949, after the victory of the Chinese Communist Party led by Mao Zedong in its struggle against the Nationalists led by General Chiang Kai‐shek, the latter withdrew to the Island of Taiwan. However, Taiwanese see themselves as Chinese.

Same US policy consisting of dividing and conquering

The reason for the division and conflict between all these pairs of people that belong respectively to the same ethnic groups is mainly the Western use of the same old policy : to divide and conquer. The war in Ukraine originated from the eagerness of the United States of America to corporate Ukraine into NATO Russia perceives as a hostile alliance. The war between Israel and Palestine has its roots in the creation of the State of Israel started under British colonial rule, a state, which until now and with the backing of America, lives in permanent conflict against most of its neighbours by refusing the two states solution. The conflict in Taiwan has been brewing because the United States of America opposed the reunification of Taiwan and mainland China.

In another example of this policy, one can see that the reconciliation between Shiite Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia made possible by Chinese mediation is annoying to the US. The strategy consisting of dividing and conquering is as old as the world itself but so far the US seems to excel at it.

Humanity would have been at peace if the United States of America wouldn’t have had to meddle in the internal affairs of people with the same ethnic background in order to divide them for its geopolitical goals.
